How To Get Into Drama School Workshop
How The Workshop Can Help:
Tilly Blackwood set up Audition Doctor in order to help working and non-working actors refine their skills and to help as many people as possible get into drama school.
Too many potentially brilliant actors are often overwhelmed with what the expectations are in the long audition process or just don’t know where to start with looking for speeches, let alone a classical text. This short, two day intensive workshop aims to dispel any unnecessary concerns and to find clarity in a new and empowered way forward-the best circumstances to deliver a strong and well-honed drama school audition/self tape.

Who This Workshop Is For
Anyone who is thinking about auditioning for drama school but it’s also perfect if you’re not completely sure, but want the opportunity to dip your toe in the water to see what working on a text/character is all about. Equally, you may have auditioned before but keep missing the result you wanted, and feel at a loss as to how to potentially change that result.
What You Need To Bring
Please bring clothing that you can move in. I will be running an inclusive workshop focused on supporting all your fellow group members and where the emphasis is on participating without judgement.
Find 2 speeches that you might potentially want to work on- one modern and one Shakespeare. Ideally they would be age appropriate and a character that you connect with. You can choose a section of the speech if that feels less intimidating, but each speech can last around two minutes in total. Ideally the speeches would be learned but at the very least be familiar with. It is important to read the play that your speech is taken from. The more preparation you can manage, the more you will get out of our two brief days together.
Student Reviews
Felix Newman:
When I began working with Tilly I was at a loss as to what drama schools wanted to see from me and how I was ever going to beat the odds. Tilly demystified the audition process and gave me the confidence to really own my performance…Her direct approach combined with a great sense of humour made the sessions productive and incredibly enjoyable.
I have been offered places at Oxford School of Drama, the Royal Welsh College, and Guildhall.
Emily Beck:
I am so thankful for the huge part Tilly played in my getting an offer for LAMDA’s MFA Professional Acting, my dream course, and can’t wait to build on all I learnt from her when I start at LAMDA.
George King:
After 5 years of unsuccessful attempts, thanks to Tilly I finally won a place at my dream school, Guildhall…Not only will you find an incredible coach in Tilly, but you will find a friend for life. I cannot express how much I would recommend working with her.
Caitlin McEwan:
Her belief in me spurred me on and was a constant reminder that I could actually do this. I worked with her over the course of two years, and after many final rounds I’m so delighted to have been offered a place on the BA Acting course at RADA,
